SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Pacific women's track team concluded the 2022 season on Saturday, as the Tigers competed at the Triton Invitational on the campus of UC San Diego.
The Tigers earned multiple top-15 finishes across the board, highlighted by
Alyssa Hershey earning a sixth-place finish in the 1500-meter race and a 12th-place finish in the 3000-meter race. In the 1500 meters, Hershey set a new personal best, clocking in a time of 4:45.98, over three seconds faster than her previous best set at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on April 2. The junior from Edmonds, Wash., also competed in the 3000-meter race and earned another top-15 finish with a time of 10:44.87.
Along with Hershey,
Emma Winkler and
Ella LeRoy also competed in the 1500 meters, finishing in eighth and 18th, respectively. Winkler completed the three and three-quarters race with a time of 4:48.72, while LeRoy finished with a time of 5:00.26.
LeRoy took on the 800-meter race for the fourth time this season, grabbing a 28th-place finish with a time of 2:28.49.
Sophie Pazzo,
Ailey Butler, and
Kari Tanji thrived in the 5000 meters in the long-distance races, as the group earned top-10 finishes. Pazzo recorded the group's best time, earning a second-place finish with a time of 18:28.29, crushing her previous personal best of 18:40.83 set at the Hornet Invitational on March 19.
Butler and Tanji, competing in the final race of their collegiate careers, both earned personal bests in the 500 meters as Butler earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 18:57.82 while Tanji finished in 10th place with a time of 20:04.85.
With the 2022 season coming to a close, Pacific will see most of the team return for the upcoming cross country season, while Winkler, Butler, and Tanji will be lost due to graduation.
