STOCKTON, Calif. – The Tigers jumped on the Lions early and rode out an exciting match to secure the 4-2 win.
The Tigers got off to a hot start. After dropping the first doubles match,
Brandon Park and
Coby McCaig won their match 7-5 to tie before
Peter Alam, and
Manroop Saini defeated their opponents 7-6 in the tiebreaker match.
Ran Amar quickly gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead with his (6-1, 6-1) win. The Lions responded with a win in #1 singles before
Brandon Park put away his competition (6-2, 6-4). Santa Clara won in #5 singles, bringing the score to 3-2 and coming down to the final two matchups. McCaig and Alam both won their opening sets, so either player needed to win their next set to complete the Tiger's win.
It has a huge impact," said Head Coach
Robin Goodman. "We just got our live streaming in, so we have more eyes on the court. The more the fans and the community gets to watch and support our team, the more they care."
McCaig completed his match first, winning (6-4, 6-3) to give the Tigers their first win in conference this season.
"It was unbelievable," says Head Coach
Robin Goodman. "It was a real event today. We had ball kids out. We had a great crowd. Coby getting his first win of the season, in style too, playing the right way. It was fun!"
The Tigers are on the road next week, traveling to Moraga to battle with Saint Mary's.
