STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific beach volleyball team, competing in its final dual match of the regular season, defeated San Francisco, 3-2, Tuesday afternoon at the Raney Sand Volleyball Courts.
The Tigers fell behind early but rebounded quickly as
Brooklynn Thomas and
Shahrzad Sadeghi cut into the deficit with a win over Jessica Eanes and Lana Kutakhina at No. 3 doubles. The duo, competing together for the first time this season, gained an early advantage and rolled to a 21-13, 21-17 victory.
Trailing 2-1 after the first three matches of the afternoon, the Tigers came alive, taking two of the following three matches to earn their first win of the season. The Tigers were dominant in the final matches as
Lucy Carpenter and
Jenny Todd tied the contest at two, heading into the deciding match. The duo picked up their third win of the season, defeating Katie Wagstaff and Fina Rivera, 21-14, 21-15, while
Megan Nishimura and
Darina Kumanova earned a 21-19, 21-14 straight-set victory over Sophie Sydenham and Sara Denham at No. 4 doubles to clinch the dual match.
Pacific returns to action on Friday, April 29, as the Tigers travel to Santa Monica, Calif., to compete in the West Coast Conference Championships.
