SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Pacific women's track team, competing in its second to the last meet of the season, took part in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic Friday morning, hosted by San Francisco State.
Emma Winkler led the way for the Tigers in the 5000-meter race, earning the top time among the three members representing the team. Winkler earned a fourth-place finish in her section, clocking a season-best time of 18:14.23. The graduate student from Clarksburg, Calif., was over seven seconds faster than her previous season-best of 18:21.32, set earlier this season at the Hornet Invitational.
Sophie Pazzo, competing in the same section as Winkler, earned a 15th-place finish with a time of 18:50.11, while
Ailey Butler took eighth place in her group with a time of 19:05.45.
Alyssa Hershey highlighted the Tigers in the 1500-meter race as she nearly broke her personal-best set earlier this season. Hershey, competing in Section 5, earned an eight-place finish with a time of 4:49.99, seventy-seven hundredths of a second slower than her personal-best of 4:49.22 set at the Hornet Invitational.
Ella LeRoy,
Kari Tanji, and
Anahi Avila Perez all earned top-10 finishes within their sections in the 1500 meters as LeRoy crushed her personal-best time by over three seconds, finishing this morning's event with a time of 5:03.24.
Tanji also set a personal-best in the 1500 meters, finishing with a time of 5:09.24, surpassing her previous best of 5:12.70 set at the Hornet Invitational. Perez, competing in Section 9, earned an eight-place finish out of 13 runners, with a time of 5:22.78.
Pacific returns to action on Saturday, April 2, as the Tigers continue the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, with a start time of 9:30 a.m.
