STOCKTON, Calif. – The Tigers hosted a Northern Arizona team that had won five of their previous six matches. The Tigers kept it close but ultimately fell 4-3.
The Lumberjacks got out to an early 1-0 lead in doubles. On court one,
Peter Alam and
Ran Amar won their second straight doubles match (6-4). Northern Arizona won on courts two and three to take the doubles point.
Northern Arizona took the lead with a win on court four before
Aleska Mardjonovic finished his opponent (6-4, 6-3) to bring the score even once again. Singles was much more even. Amar won his ninth straight (6-2, 6-3) and tied the match for the Tigers.
The Lumberjacks picked up two more wins to secure the match with four points, but
Liam Puttergill recorded an exciting win (7-5, 7-6) to bring the final score to 4-3.
The Tigers are on the road this weekend, with their second matchup against Nevada. The two teams will compete on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
