PHOENIX, Ariz. – With a team score of +7 on the day, the Pacific Men's Golf Team has surged to 10th place unofficially the 23-team Grand Canyon University Invitational at the university's golf course. Play was suspended due to darkness near the end of the second round.

After the first round of play, the Tigers were tied for 16th with a team score of 293. Junior Griffin Long shot an even-par 71 to lead the team in the first round.

In the second round, the Tigers were moving up the leader board before play was suspended, led by redshirt senior Riley Killip, who stands at five-under-par on the round with two holes to play. He has four birdies and an eagle in the round to date. His eagle came on the par-5 18th hole. Teammates Maverick Pavletich and Thomas O'Rourke had eagles on the par-5 10th hole in the first round. Pacific leads the tournament with three eagles, the most of any team. The Tigers also lead in par-five average at 4.52, or 13 under par.

So far in the second round, Pacific is two under par as a team and has moved from 16th to 10th, passing Hawaii, UT-Rio Grande Valley, Ball State, Northern Colorado, Valparaiso and Kansas City. Host Grand Canyon leads the event at -13, followed by Southern Mississippi, -11, and Fresno State, -9.

Combined with his one-over-par 72 in the opening round, Killip stands in a three-way tie for seventh place at four-under-par for the event. Pavletich is currently second on the team in scoring at +2 after a one-over-par 72 in the first round and +1 through 16 holes. Long is +3 in the second round and in the tournament. Leonardo Rigamonti is battling back from his opening round 77 with a -1 performance through 16 in the second round and +6 for the tournament. O'Rourke, who shot eight over in the first round, is five over in the second through 15 holes.  

The second round of play was stopped due to darkness and will continue Tuesday at 6:15 a.m. PDT (7:15 a.m. MDT), followed by the third and final round.
