BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The 2022 season for the Pacific beach volleyball team opened Friday morning at the Student Recreation Center Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex. The Tigers fell in both matches, dropping a 5-0 decision to nationally-ranked Pepperdine and 3-2 to Vanguard.

The 14th-ranked Waves came out fast and quickly swept through the Tigers, taking all five matches. The most competitive match came on Court #3 as Lucy Carpenter and Hania Taduran battled but fell to the Wave's Cameron Baklenko and Rio Frohoff, 21-15, 21-15.

In a more competitive match, the Tigers earned wins on Court #4 and Court #5 despite the dual match already being decided. Playing in their second match together, Nishimura and Sadeghi earned an 18-21, 21-18, 15-13 come from behind victory while Kumanova and Aguilar took home a 21-13, 28-26 straight-set triumph.Â
Pacific returns to action Saturday, Feb. 26, as the Tigers face off against CSU Bakersfield at 10 a.m.
