SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Competing for the first time in two weeks, the Pacific women's track team took part in the Sunshine Invite Saturday morning on the campus of Westmont College.

The Tigers competed in multiple events as
Emma Winkler, and
Anahi Avila Perez were the teams' lone members to compete in more than one event. Winkler took part in the long-distance races as she earned two top-10 finishes in the 3000 and 5000-meter races. Winkler finished in seventh place in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:15.06. She also took home a second-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 19:28.09.

Avila Perez, competing for the first time this season, earned top-10 finishes in the 600 and 1000-meter races. Avila Perez became the second Tiger in program history to take part in the 600-meter race as she earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:57.08. The sophomore from Farmville, Calif., also earned an eighth-place finish in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:37.13.

Elisabeth Garner,
Ailey Butler,
Alyssa Hershey, and
Kari Tanji also competed for the first time as all four earned quality finishes. Hershey and Tanji competed in the 1600-meter race and finished in the top-10. Hershey earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 5:27.81, while Tanji completed the mile race in seventh place with a time of 5:46.18.

Garner competed in the 3000-meter race and finished 17th with a time of 11:59.54 and Butler earned a ninth-place finish in the 5000-meter race with a time of 21:23.51.

Pacific returns to action on Saturday, March 5, as the Tigers head to Chabot College to compete in the East Bay open.
