ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Pacific men's and women's swim teams continued to compete on day two of the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational.
The men's team remained fourth out of the five teams with a score of 295 points, while the women's team moved to eighth out of 11 competing teams with a score of 68.
"Another great day with 12 lifetime bests," said Head Coach Katelyne Herrington. "We're really pleased with how we are racing. We still have some things to clean up for conference, but we have time."
Several Tigers had personal best times throughout the day. Sophomore Noemi Melendez got a time of 56.7 in the 100 fly, sophomore Paige Sondgeroth received a time of 1:04.2 in the 100 breast, and freshman Annelise Thomas swam a 57.5 in the 100 back.
In the 200 free, sophomore Alexia Ferguson scored a personal best of 1:53.69, and sophomore Jaydn Phillips had a time of 1:52.86, placing eighth out of 32 swimmers.
Senior Jessica Clark and sophomore Ellie Macphail had great outings in the 400 individual medley, with Clark getting her best of 4:36.
Both teams performed exceptionally well in the 800 free relay. Ferguson, Macphail, freshman Diana Chan and Phillips led the Tigers to a fourth-place finish out of 19 groups. The men's side also finished in fourth, with junior Aidan Vollmar, junior Aidan Scott, freshman Ethan Cole and junior Alex Kurotori all contributing.
Vollmar obtained his first score under 50 in the 100 fly with a time of 49.2, putting him sixth out of 16 swimmers.
In the 100 back, Scott placed fourth out of 15 by swimming a 50.01 and Kurotori secured eighth out of 16 in the 200 free.
The Tigers move onto the final day of the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT.
