Cross Country Competes in West Coast Conference Championships

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific women's cross country team finished 10th at the West Coast Conference Championships.

With 30 points, #5 BYU earned the overall team title, while San Francisco and Portland rounded out the podium.

"The team ran great today," Head Coach Josh Jones stated after the meet. "The weather was not ideal, but our runners did not let it bother them."

Junior Sophie Pazzo was the top finisher for the Tigers, earning a 54th-place finish of 95 runners with a time of 22:41.7.

Earning her second-best time ever in the 6K, Pazzo nearly set a new personal best as she was just over 36 seconds off from her current personal record of 22:05.2, set two weeks ago at the Bronco Invitational.

"Sophie ran strong in the race today," Jones continued. "It shows how hard she works on a daily basis."

Senior Alyssa Hershey was the second team member to cross the finish line, earning a 72nd-place finish with a time of 23:13.8.

Pacific returns to action on at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 as the Tigers conclude the season at the NCAA West Regional in Seattle, Wash.
