STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's swim team (2-1) travels to UC Davis for its fourth dual meet of the season on Saturday. The meet will begin at noon at the Schaal Aquatics Center.
Head Coach Katelyne Herrington is looking at the competition as a chance to get ready for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in Los Angeles on February 16-19.
"It's time to put everything together one last time - fine-tuning each detail to be at our best for conference," said Herrington. "UC Davis has always been a rival of ours. The ladies must take 33 points throughout the day to beat UC Davis since we will not score any diving points. If we go first and third in both relays and clean up a few individual races, we have a chance."
In the COVID-19-shortened 2020-21 season, the only dual meet for the women's squad was a home contest with the Aggies. UC Davis won that contest, 160-94. This season, the Tigers have already notched dual meet wins over San Jose State and Cal State East Bay. Plus, they finished ahead of San Jose State and UC Santa Cruz in the Pacific Invitational.
The last outing for the Pacific women's team was on December 17-19, when the Tigers finished third in the five-team UNLV Invitational. The top place winners for Pacific in the event were Freshman Jordyn Gonzales, who finished fifth in the 400-yard individual medley, and sophomore Caitlin Tan, who was fifth in both the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly. Gonzales and Tan were joined by seniors Allie Emery and Kelsey Lloyd on the fourth-place 400-yard medley relay team.
