THINGS TO KNOW:

- Heading into the week, junior James Arakawa (.340) and senior Alex LeForestier (.337) rank tenth and eleventh respectively in the conference in batting average. Additionally, the duo also ranks in the top fifteen in OPS, with LeForestier placing fourth (.440) and Arakawa twelfth (.422).
- Defensively, LeForestier (20) and classmate Wyatt Hoffman (19) hold the top two spots in double plays turned on the season. Behind the dish, senior Joe Fitzhugh leads the WCC with 12 runners caught stealing. As a team, the Tigers also led the conference in the two categories, with 32 total double plays turned and 18 runners caught stealing.
SCOUTING THE GAELS:
- Last time out, Saint Mary's took down Cal, 6-3, in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Apr. 21. Prior to this contest, the Gaels swept Santa Clara last weekend at home, which included a 2-1 walk-off victory on Saturday, Apr. 17.
- Offensively, SMC ranks second in the WCC in stolen bases as a team (41) while also sitting fourth in base-on-balls (134). Dominating on the mound, the Gaels lead the conference in ERA (3.67) and base-on-balls allowed (105). Trailing the Tigers, Saint Mary's has also caught 14 runners stealing this season, good for second in the WCC.
- Leading the charge individually, game one projected starter Ryan Taurek is second in the conference in ERA with an impressive 2.17 mark. Furthermore, scheduled starters Sam Bower and Ky Bush are each tied for third with four wins on the year as Bower also ranks third in innings piched (54.2) while Bush sits in sixth (48.1). Using his left-handed frame to his advantage, Bush also sits second in the WCC with 67 total strikeouts, which converts to 12.48 K/9, good for fourth in the conference.
