SPOKANE, Wash. – Aiming to even the series after dropping game one on Thursday night, the Pacific baseball team (7-16, 0-8) was unable to get back in the win column against Gonzaga (15-10, 6-2) on Friday night, falling to the Bulldogs, 6-0, at Patterson Baseball Complex.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Recording the first hit of the contest, senior Charles Middleton singled down the right field line in the bottom of the first for the Tigers first baserunner, but ultimately would not make it home as Pacific struggled to convert with runners in scoring positions throughout the evening.
- In the third, Gonzaga plated their first two runs of the game on two hits in the inning, which included an RBI double by right field Grayson Sterling.
- With both teams settling in on the mound, each pitching staff would deny the opposing lineup in the innings to follow with the Bulldogs leading 2-0 through seven innings complete.
- Extending their lead with one swing of the bat, catcher Tyler Rando delivered a grand slam for Gonzaga in the bottom of the eighth to push the score to 6-0 in favor of GU.
- Retiring the Tigers in order in the top of the ninth, the Bulldogs hung on to secure the win and their second shutout of the series, 6-0.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Looking to provide a spark in the middle of the order, senior Alex LeForestier (5) and Thomas Gavello (4) each recorded hits on Saturday to extend their reached base streaks.
- On the mound, senior Hunter Schilperoort logged his second longest outing of the season, going 3.0 innings with two earned runs, two hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
