STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's golf team is in seventh place after shooting an opening round two under, 282 as the host to the Visit Stockton Invite at the Stockton Golf and Country Club on Thursday. The team lead is held by Washington State, who shot a 16 under, 268.
The Tigers had three players shoot par or better through the first 18 holes, including
Maverick Pavletich with a team-best 69 (-2). He had three birdies on his round. Also, shooting under par was
Griffin Long, who had a 70 (-1) with a team-best five birdies on the day. The third Pacific player was
Haakon Mathiesen, who posted a 71 (E) with a pair of birdies.
The individual lead in the field is shared by Kristian Bressum of St. Mary's (CA) and Pono Yanagi of Washington State as they both posted a 65 (-6). Of note, Rajvir Bedi recorded a hole-in-one on No. 3 which is par 3, 189 yards
O'Rourke will be one of the first to tee off in Friday's second round at 7:45 a.m. followed by Rigamonti, Mathiesen, Long and Pavletich every nine minutes on hole No. 1.
