Pacific Finishes 4-0 in Collegiate Hoops Roadshow with 69-51 Win Over Longwood

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team wrapped up the holiday week with a 69-51 win over Longwood on Friday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

The win improves the Tigers overall record to 7-3, which also marks Pacific's best start, through 10 games, since the 2013-14 season. Longwood falls to 4-4.

 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

First Half

  • The Tigers out-scored the Lancers, 4-0 in the first four minute of play. Longwood answered just under the 16:00 minute mark with five consecutive points (5-4).
  • The two squads battled back and forth over the next four minutes, knotting the game up at 13-13 just before the under-12 minute media timeout.
  • Gary Chivichyan scored on a fast break three-pointer at 10:18 to start a Pacific 17-7 run that led to a 10 point (30-20) Tiger lead.
  • Justin Moore scored on a jumper in the paint at 3:45 to give the Tigers their largest lead of the half (32-20).
  • Longwood scored on four three-pointers in the final 3:23 to finish the first half to come back within three points (35-32).
  • The Tigers hit a season-high seven first-half three pointers, led by Austin Vereen (2) and Broc Finstuen (2).
  • Finstuen led all players with 10 points.
     

Second Half

  • Pacific opened the second half with a 5-0 run in the first 4:27. The Tigers then went on a 16-2 run that gave them their largest lead of the game (56-34). Chivichyan led the scoring run with 10 points scored.
  • The Tigers would not let the Lancers to come within less than 16 points the remainder of the half, wrapping up the final 20 minutes of play with an 18 point lead (69-51).
  • Pacific led the game for nearly 20 minutes. 

     

COLLEGIATE HOOPS ROADSHOW

  • Pacific finished 4-0 in Pacific's Regional portion of the Collegiate Hoops Roadshow, presented by AtmosAir. The Tigers claimed wins over UC Riverside (58-51), Coppin State (64-60), SIUE (78-50), and Longwood (69-51).
  • Jahlil Tripp was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tiger-hosted event. Tripp collected 59 points (14.7 p/gm), 28 rebounds (7 p/gm), 7 steals (1.7 p/gm), and 4 assists (1.0 p/gm).
  • Chivichyan and  Finstuen also claimed All-Tournament honors.

     

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

  • Chivichyan had a season-best performance, leading all Pacific players with 17 points. The graduate transfer from Hollywood, Calif. finished 7-for-14 (.500) from the floor, including 3-for-8 from beyond the three-point line. 
  • Vereen was named the City of Stockton Human Resources Hardworking Player of the Game after matching his season-highs of 11 points and five rebounds. He also recorded one steal and one block on the night.
  • Finstuen and Justin Moore also contributed double-digit points, each with 10 points.
  • Pierre Crockrell II commanded the offense, dishing out a team-high six assists. Moore finished with four assists.

     

AS A TEAM

  • Pacific shot 43.9 percent from the floor thanks to a 25-for-57 effort from the floor. 
  • The Tigers made a season-high 12 three-pointers, led by Chivichyan (3), Finstuen (3), Moore (2), and Finstuen (2).
  • The Orange and Black held the edge in points off of the bench (35-29), in the pain (16-12) and off of turnovers (13-5).
