Howard College
McCray led the Howard College Hawks to consecutive regional berths with a 20-12 record in 2016-17 and a 22-9 mark in 2017-18. As a sophomore (2016-17), averaged 10.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game en route to being named the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Also earned All-WJCAS First Team and NJCAA Region 5 All-West Region honors the same year.

High School
McCray attended Ruston High School where he earned All-5A District 2, All-defensive, All-Metro and All-Northeast honors as a senior with averages of 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks per game.
