The University of the Pacific has five athletes that have moved into the minor leagues within the last five years in Vince Arobio, Gio Brusa, Danny Mayer, Taylor Murphy, and Brett Sullivan. Chase Headley is a product of the 2005 draft into the majors.

Arobio played the Orange and Black from 2013 to 2017 as a right-handed pitcher. During his career with the Tigers, Arobio made 81 appearances on the mound. He finished with a 9-7 record with 22 saves. The Burlingame, California, native posted a 3.55 ERA pitching 111.2 innings striking out 119 batters against 65 walks.

Arobio was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 24th round of the 2017 draft and enters his second season with the Arizona League White Sox, a rookie ball affiliate. In his first season, he posted a 4.03 ERA through 15 games played, tallying six game finishes. Arobio pitched 29.0 innings, striking out 27 batters against just five walks. He finished with a 2-3 record with three saves.

Gio Brusa wore the Tiger uniform from 2012 to 2016 and played in the outfield. Brusa, hailing from Lodi, California, finished his Pacific career with a .286 batting average. He made 682 appearances at the plate notching 195 hits with 47 doubles, 25 home runs, and 122 RBI.

Brusa enters his third season in the minor leagues and was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round in the 2016 draft. Brusa started with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and played one season posting a .264 batting average with 10 home runs before being called up to the San Jose Giants.

In his first season with the San Jose Giants, Brusa played a full season, 113 games, notching 101 hits with 17 home runs and 28 doubles. He finished with a .237 batting average. The San Jose Giants season begins Tuesday, April 3 against the Sacramento Rivercats at 6:00 p.m.

Danny Mayer played for the University of the Pacific from 2013 to 2017 as an outfielder. Mayer played in 139 games for the Orange and Black and posted a .262 batting average. The Downers Grove, Illinois, native tallied 128 hits in 489 at-bats with 28 home runs, 23 doubles, and 76 RBIs.

Following his career at Pacific, Mayer was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 31st round of the 2017 draft and enters his second season with the Gulf Coast Phillies, a rookie ball affiliate. Mayer finished the 2017 season with a .255 batting average with 27 hits in 31 games, notching 18 RBI, nine doubles, and two home runs.

Taylor Murphy played for Pacific from 2011 to 2014 as an outfielder. In 150 games played, Murphy recorded 125 hits with 64 RBI, seven home runs, nine triples, and 17 doubles. The Solana Beach, California, native finished with a .260 batting average.

Murphy was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 18th round of the 2014 draft and enters his fifth season in the minor leagues, his second with the Arizona League Indians, a rookie ball affiliate. In the 2017 season, Murphy finished with a .304 batting average with seven hits in 23 at-bats with one triple and three RBI.

Brett Sullivan completed his Tigers career in 2015, playing only three seasons from 2012 to 2015. Sullivan played shortstop for the Orange and Black through 153 games. The Stockton, California, native finished with a .291 batting average, registering 175 hits with 96 RBI, 13 home runs and triples, and 37 doubles, with 89 runs scored.

Following his Pacific career, Sullivan was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 17th round of the 2015 draft and enters his fourth season. He played for the Arizona Fall League Surprise Saguaros and finished last season with a .313 batting average. In 14 games played, he notched 15 hits with 11 RBI, three doubles, two triples, and six runs scored.

Chase Headley is the longest current active Tiger in the Pros. Headley played for Pacific his freshman year before transferring to Tennessee. Headley was drafted to the San Diego Padres in the second round of the 2005 draft and enters his 13th year in the majors.

Headley enters his ninth season with the Padres but had spent time with the Yankees (four seasons), as well.

In the 2017 season with the Yankees, Headley played in 147 games tallying 140 hits in 512 at-bats. He finished with a .273 batting average and recorded 12 home runs, 30 doubles, and 61 RBI.

The Padres started their season on Thursday, March 29, dropping the series to the Milwaukee Brewers.
