ST. HELENA, Calif. - The Napa Valley Tennis Classic has come to an end as the third and final day of the tournament saw positive results from pacific men's tennis sophomore, Tadiwa Chinamo, as he fought for a 5-7, 6-4, 4-1(ret.) victory.
On Sunday, Chinamo faced Baylor freshman Sven Lah who previously fell to Billy Griffith of Cal and Jaycer Lyeons, the USTA junior group representative. Chinamo, who dropped his first two singles matches of the tournament, broke the streak on day three. Lah took control of the first set winning 7-5 before Chinamo turned it up to come back and take the second set 6-4, forcing yet another third set match. Chinamo was ahead in the third set, 4-1 before Lah retired the match resulting in a win for Chinamo.
"I am extremely proud of Tadiwa this weekend as he proved to show that he learned from his previous two losses," stated head coach, Ryan Redondo. "Tadiwa really used today to put in action what this tournament has taught him so far and it turned out well for him. This weekend I saw Tadiwa develop mentally and physically, which is paramount as we head into the fall season and I am excited to see him progress this year."
Chinamo's Sunday victory puts him at 2-3 this weekend after winning a match in both doubles and singles.
