Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. - Ricky Reynoso tossed eight shutout innings, while Danny Mayer plated an RBI double as the Pacific baseball team shutout Portland, 2-0, Sunday afternoon to win a West Coast Conference weekend series.
Reynoso allowed just two hits in eight innings, striking out six for his fourth win of the season.
Pacific plated both runs in the bottom of the sixth, as Matt Tarantino doubled down the left field line and after Ryan Schalch reached on an error, Mayer ripped a double to left for a run. Lucas Halstead followed with a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.
That was all Reynoso would need as he retired the next six before turning it over to Vince Arobio for the ninth.
Arobio surrounded a one-out hit in the ninth, but coaxed a pop-up and a fly out to snuff out the Pilots.
Kevin Baker went the distance for the Pilots, allowing one earned run in eight innings with 13 strikeouts. He walks two and allowed four hits.
Pacific improves to 15-26 overall, 4-17 in the West Coast Conference.
Portland falls to 9-34-1 overall, 5-16 in the WCC.
The Tigers will step out of conference for a three-game road series at Florida State opening Friday.
