STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Tigers stymied Penn State's offense at every turn en route to a 6-1 win today.  Ricky Reynoso gave up just two hits in 5.2 innings, retiring nine straight at one point, to pick up his second win in a row as the Tigers moved to 5-5.  Penn State is also 5-5 this season now.

Cooper Casad relieved Reynoso in the sixth with men on first and second and two outs.  The junior got a swinging strikeout to end the threat and keep Pacific's 1-0 lead intact.  Casad would end up striking out three in his 1.1 innings of work, bridging the gap before allowing Vince Arobio to take over in the eighth.

It was Matt Tarantino that keyed the offense today for the Tigers.  The junior went 3-for-4 with two doubles, driving in two runs and scoring one himself.  Nick Iwasa would also pick up two RBI today.

Pacific's first run of the game came when Tarantino doubled off the wall in deep left-center, driving in James Free, who had singled one batter earlier.  Tarantino would also drive in a run in the sixth with a line-drive single to right that scored Ryan Schalch from second to make it 2-0.

"When he sees the speed of the game he's going to have games like this and it's exciting to see him like this offensively," said Head Coach Mike Neu about Tarantino's offensive explosion.

After Tarantino pushed home Pacific's first run of the sixth, Iwasa drove in another on a hit-and-run.  Iwasa knocked a hot shot into the hole on the left side that was knocked down by the shortstop but there was no chance at a throw as Lucas Halstead scored.

Iwasa added a second RBI with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to score Free again.  Kevin Sandri, who doubled earlier in the game, roped a single into right-center later in the inning to score Tarantino and move Keaton Glover to third.

Glover would score a few pitches later when Ryan Robards knocked a ball through the right side to make it 6-0.

The Nittany Lions would score one run in the ninth but couldn't get the game any closer as Vince Arobio picked up his second save of the season with two innings of work.
