School Records Fall at Johnny Mathis Invitational, Knipper Second In 5000m

San Francisco - At the Johnny Mathis Invitational in San Francisco on Saturday, The Pacific Track and Field team set school records in the 3000m steeplechase, the 4x100 meter relay, the 4x400 meter relay and the shot put. In addition, senior Mia Knipper (Morada, Calif.) set a personal track record in the 5000m to highlight the distance disciplines with a second place overall finish.

Knipper finished in 18:15.55, taking down her previous time of 18:28.14, set at the Beach Invitational in Cerritos, Calif. last season. Senior Becky Grabow (Carson City, Nev.) finished in fourth overall with a time of 18:41.48 while freshmen Katelyn Breitschwerdt (Monrovia, Calif.) and Haley Silva (Manteca, Calif.) crossed in 19:28.04 and 19:37.81, respectively.

In the 3000m steeplechase, senior Lindsay Wourms (Camas, Wash.) recorded a time of 11:36.83, good for the program record in the steeplechase. Wourms set her own personal record in the distance, blowing past the school record of a 12:01.10 at the same event in 2013.

The 4x100 meter relay saw Pacific's relay team of sophomore Jessica Fogel (Northridge, Calif.), junior Mati Long (Sandy, Utah), junior Ebony Ezeji (Stockton, Calif.) and sophomore Jasmine Jenkins (San Ramon, Calif.) finished in a time of 52.64, just besting the previous program record, a 52.74 mark that Fogel, Long, Ezeji and Sandra Padilla finished with in 2015.

In the 4x400 meter race, Padilla (San Jose, Calif.), Lauren Nakaso (San Ramon, Calif.), Erica Ramos (Stockton, Calif.) and Myra Lakdawala (Karachi, Pakistan) crossed in 4:24.29, ahead of the previous program mark of 4:30.21, achieved in 2013 by Dale Dong, Melissa Hopper, Micaela Todd and Ashley Keeline.

Pacific also set a program mark in the shot put, as Jenkins competed for the Orange and Black, registering a distance of 9.34m.

In the 100m dash Ezeji finished with a time of 13.38, just shy of her personal record of 13.22.

Head Coach Josh Jones said of the SF State hosted meet, "This was a solid first meet of the season for us. We set some school records, along with some good personal records. Definitely a great start, I'm really proud of the team."

Pacific will return to action at the Kim Duyst Invitational on March 5th. The event is hosted in Turlock, Calif. by Stanislaus State.
