San Francisco - On the second day of the SF State Distance Carnival, the focus shifted to shorter races as the Tigers saw school records fall in the 4x100 meter relay, the 400m and the 2 mile race. Junior Mia Knipper (Morada, Calif.), set a new two-mile distance mark with a time of 11:22.12 besting the time set by Lindsay Wourms (12:10.56) in 2014 by almost 50 seconds. The time was second overall in the distance.
In the 4x100 meter relay race, sophomore Sandra Padilla (San Jose, Calif.), sophomore Matti Long (Sandy, Utah), freshman Jessica Fogel (Northridge, Calif.) and sophomore Ebony Ezeji (Stockton, Calif.) eclipsed their previous record mark of 52.83 with a time of 52.53, good for 11th overall in the discipline.
In the 400m distance, Long finished in 63.25 seconds, eclipsing the time set by Ashley Keeline in 2013 (64.69), establishing a new school record in the distance. In the one-mile run, junior Jessica Guerra (Stockton, Calif.) and senior Karla Segura (Stockton, Calif.) finished in 6:04.56 and 6:22.92, respectively.
The 100m dash saw Ezeji (13.30) fall just short of a personal best of 13.22 while Fogel set a new personal-best with a time of 13.97. Sophomore Jasmine Jenkins (San Ramon, Calif.) finished in 13.84, Keeline finished in 14.01 and Ayers crossed in 15.12 to round out the Pacific sprinters in the event.
The lone Pacific entrant in the 200m was Ezeji, who crossed in 27.54, good for second best in program history, just short of Malaya Cabrera's 27.37 mark in 2014.
Pacific will return to action on April 17th and 18th in Norwalk, Calif. as the Beach Invitational gets underway. The two-day meet is hosted by Long Beach State and Cerritos College.
