Azusa, Calif. - Brydie Pye and Anna Kertes each scored three goals as the No. 18 Pacific women's water polo team notched its first Golden Coast Conference win, 11-7, at Azusa Pacific Saturday.
The Tigers improve to 10-9 overall and 1-1 in GCC play.
Pacific unloaded with a seven-goal first quarter as Pye and Kertes each tallied twice, Karolina Hlavata scored twice, and Ellen Tiedemann hit the back of the cage to built a 7-1 lead.
The Tigers coasted home, as Pye match a second-quarter goal by Alba Espinar to take an 8-3 lead into halftime.
After APU crawled within 8-4, Morgan Hurley scored in the third to extend the Tigers' lead, while Kertes' fourth-quarter goal gave Pacific an 10-5 advantage.
Once the Cougars cut the gap to four again, Rachel Krieger tallied for an 11-6 lead with 3:58 to go and Azusa Pacific added a late score with 16 seconds remaining.
Michele Relton recorded seven saves in goal for Pacific while APU's Katie Margot posted nine saves. Espinar and Ashley Taylor paced the Cougars with two goals each.
The Tigers won their fourth in a row, and have outscored opponents 38-22 in the win streak.
Pacific will host Santa Clara in a GCC match-up next Saturday at noon.
