San Diego, Calif. - Behind 12 saves from goalkeeper Michele Relton, the No. 15 Pacific women's water polo team posted a 5-2 win over Bucknell Sunday at the Aztec Invitational.
Brydie Pye and Karolina Hlavata each scored two goals, while Anna Kertes added a tally in the win. Pacific's three-goal third quarter provided the victory.
Pye gave Pacific a 1-0 lead late in the first quarter, but the Bison answered with a goal from Barnett in the second as the low-scoring affair was tied at the half.
In the third, Pye struck again and after a stop, Hlavata put Pacific up 3-1 with what would stand up as the game-winner.
Hlavata finished the third quarter with a goal with eight seconds left in the period. Kertes gave the Tigers a 5-1 lead before Bucknell added a five-meter penalty with 1:47 to go.
The Tigers improve to 8-9 overall while Bucknell falls to 7-10.
Pacific returns home for a Tuesday contest at 7 p.m. against Harvard, just the second game of the season at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
