San Diego, Calif. - Gracie Smith and Anna Kertes scored five goals as the No. 15 Pacific women's water polo team split the first day of the Aztec Invitational Saturday. Pacific downed No. 16 Indiana 11-5, while the Tigers fell to No. 10 Princeton, 10-5.
The Tigers (7-9) posted their win in the nightcap, as Pacific sprinted out to a 9-3 halftime lead on Indiana. Kertes powered the offense with five goals in the contest while Smith posted four.
Michele Relton recored 12 saves in goal for Pacific. Indiana (9-8) was led by Collen McNaught's two goals.
In the morning session, Princeton won the battle of the Tigers, as they scored seven first-half goals and held on for the 10-5 win.
Pacific posted goals from Smith, Aelish Guinn, Megan Torre, Brydie Pye and Karolina Hlavata. But the balanced Princeton attack built a 7-2 lead by halftime.
Princeton (17-1) received three goals each from Haley Wan and Ashley Hatcher, and two each from Jessie Holechek and Chelsea Johnson.
The Tigers will face Bucknell on Sunday at 8 a.m.
