Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific men's tennis team fell 5-2 to San Francisco Friday afternoon at Hal Nelson Tennis Courts. Freshman Bernardo Oliveira posted a singles victory for the Tigers, while Pacific took two doubles matches.
Oliveira defeated the Dons' Alex Santiago 6-4, 6-4 in the sixth position, but USF swept the top five flights.
Sophomore Miguel Diaz won his first set, 6-3, but Bernardo Saraiva rallied with a 6-3, 6-2 finish in first singles. Nik Skajaa posted a 6-4, 6-4 win in second singles over senior Alex Hamilton.
In third singles, freshman Jose Chamba won the first, 6-4, only to see James Tallman answer back with 6-1, 6-2 sets for the point.
Junior Daniel Alameh also won his first set, 7-6, but Thomas Takemota rallied, 6-2, 6-1. Vasco Valverde posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over senior Marlon Brand.
In doubles, Brand and Alameh defeated Valverde and Takemoto, 6-3, while Hamilton and Oliveira topped Santiago and Christian Brockstadt, 6-3. Diaz and Chamba did not finish their match with Saraiva and Skajaa.
The Tigers fall to 2-12 on the year, 0-2 in West Coast Conference action. Pacific is back in action on Sunday at Nevada.
