Berkeley, Calif. - Michele Relton made 11 saves in goal, but No. 4 California posted a 16-4 win over the Pacific women's water polo team Saturday in Berkeley.
The Tigers received a pair of goals from Anna Kertes, while Gracie Smith and Karolina Hlavata also added a goal.
The Tigers kept Cal off the board for the first six minutes, but the Bears took a 2-0 lead before Smith's goal pulled Pacific to within one after one quarter.
Cal opened the second quarter with a pair of goals, before the Tigers responded with a 6-on-five goal and even strength goal from Kertes to pull within 6-3. But Cal reeled off 10-straight goals. The Bears posted one goal to close the half, and then blanked Pacific 4-0 in the third quarter.
Hlavata finally broke the run with a goal at the 4:16 mark of the fourth.
Anna Illes led Cal with five goals, while Dora Antal, Roser Tarrago and Tiera Schroeder each added two.
Pacific falls to 1-3 on the season, while Cal improves to 10-1.
The Tigers are back in action at UC Davis next Saturday.
