Box Score Missoula, Mont. - The Pacific women's basketball suffered a cold-shooting night in Montana, falling 64-54. Hailie Eackles led the Tigers with 21 points.
The Tigers fall to 2-1 on the season, while Montana moves to 2-1.
GeAnna Luaulu-Summers added 10 points with six rebounds. while Emily Simons grabbed eight rebounds and chipped in five points on 2-of-2 shooting. Najah Queenland finished with eight points and three boards for the Tigers.
Pacific shot just 25.4 percent for the game (18-of-71), but couldn't overcome the shooting disparity in the turnover game, as each team committed 16 in the contest, or on the glass, as each team grabbed 46 boards.
Montana shot 44.3 percent for the game (26-of-60), as McCalle Feller led all scorers with 20. Sierra Anderson chipped in 16 and Alycia Sims 15 for the Grizzlies.
The Tigers hit 6-of-18 in the first quarter to open the game, building a 15-7 lead in the first five minutes, but Montana hit 9-of-19 and rallied back with a 16-5 run to close the quarter for a 23-20 lead after one period.
Pacific went cold in the second, connecting on just 2 of 15 from the field while committing six turnovers. The Grizzlies outscored Pacific 15-9 in the second, building a 38-29 lead at the break.
Pacific connected on 6-of-17 field goals in the third quarter, led by Eackles' seven points. But the Tigers gained no ground as the Grizzlies struck on 8-of-15 shots in the period to stretch the lead to 60-44 after three.
Montana led by as many as 19 before the Tigers defense turned up the intensity.
The Tigers held Montana to just four points in the fourth quarter, but the offense never got on track as the Tigers shot just 19 percent in the period (4-of-21). Pacific trimmed the margin to 64-49 with 2:24 to play, and Najah Queenland added a late three pointer cut the deficit to 10, but the Tigers mustered only 10 points in the fourth.
Pacific's road trip continues on Saturday at Utah State in a 5 p.m. PT tip-off.
