Biography
Sophomore (2015-16):
Najah Queenland started all 30 games as a sophomore, averaging 8.3 points per game and 5.4 rebounds. Shot 45 percent from the field and scored in double-figures 10 times. Hit double-figures in nine of the final 14 games of the year and posted one double-double. Averaged 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game as well. Shot .714 from the free throw line and also hit 21 three-pointers. Scored a career-high 16 points against Saint Mary’s (Jan. 16) on 6-of-8 shooting. Also scored 16 in the second meeting with SMC (Jan. 30). Grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds against BYU (Feb. 4) with six points and five assists. Set a career-high with six assists twice, at Loyola Marymount (Feb. 11) and in a win over Gonzaga (Feb. 20). A defensive presence, Queenland drew the tough defensive assignment and held USF’s Taylor Proctor to fewer shot attempts (8) than her season average for made field goals (8.3). Grabbed a career-high five steals against Pepperdine (Feb. 13).
Freshman (2014-15):
Queenland played in 29 of 31 games as a freshman, averaging 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game. Shot 37 percent from the field (26-of-69) and hit 6-of-18 from three-point range. Scored a career-high 13 points at BYU (Jan. 15) on 5-of-8 shooting. Chipped in 7 points on 3-of-5 shooting at San Francisco (Dec. 27). Tallied eight points in a win at Loyola Marymount (Jan. 31) with a career-high seven rebounds. Registered three blocks and sevens steals on the year. Finished while being fouled for five and-one opportunities on the year.
High School:
Queenland, a 5-10 guard, played her senior season at Sacramento High School, after playing previously at St. Francis High in Sacramento. She averaged 12.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest in her last season at SFHS. She also posted 103 steals as a junior in 2012-13. As a sophomore, Queenland registered 8.0 points per contest.
In each season, Queenland helped the Troubadors to the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. ESPNW and HoopGurlrz rated Queenland as the No. 18 guard in California.
Personal:
Najah is the daughter of Bahiyah Hillary. SHe has an older brother, Patrick, and an older sister, Shanice. She is a Biological Sciences Major.
