Box Score Stockton, Calif.- The America East Conference has opened its annual Fan's Choice Player of the Year voting online. Savannah Burns has been nominated for the Pacific Tigers as each team in the conference is allowed one nominee. All fans can vote once per device at the America East website.
Burns was nominated for the Tigers and currently leads the team in scoring going into tonight's regular season finale against the Stanford Cardinal at 6:00 pm at Stanford. The sophomore has scored seven goals this year and recorded six assists after recording one goal and five assists last season. Burns' seven goals are two more than Ali Campos, who is second on the team with five, while her 20 points this season are seven more than Campos' second-place total of 13.
Burns has also recorded a point in three straight games, scoring goals in the 2-1 shootout victory over California and in the 4-2 victory over UC Davis. She has two multi-point games this season, scoring two goals against Indiana and putting up two assists against Michigan State. The South Africa native recorded an assist on the game-winning goal against No. 12 Stanford as well, helping the Tigers along to their first win this season over a ranked opponent.
Voting for the America East Fan's Choice Player of the Year will remain open up until 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 3. The conference tournament will begin Thursday, November 5 with the first of two days of quarterfinal games in Albany, New York. All of the America East Conference tournament will be live streamed via America East TV, with the championship game streaming on ESPN3.
