Taylor Dempsey Selected to the U.S. Field Hockey National Development Team

LANCASTER, Pa. – Following the most recent training camp held from January 20-22, the U.S. Women's National Team High Performance staff has announced Taylor Dempsey as a member of the updated 2019 U.S. Women's Field Hockey National Development Squad, it was announced Monday afternoon.

The San Martin, Calif. native was invited to a selection camp at the Nook in Pennsylvania, where she undertook three days of rigorous training and testing along with the top collegiate players in the country. Now, Dempsey and her fellow U.S. teammates will have three training camps over the next two months as they prepare for their international tour to The Netherlands, where they will compete against the Scotland Women's National Team and Belgium's U-21 team from April 13-22.

Recently wrapping up her four-year career with the Pacific field hockey team, Demsey appeared in 72 games for the Tigers and collected 17 points, which included one goal and a season-high five assists during her final season.

"Taylor has had a wonderful career at Pacific and continues to develop and flourish even after her senior season," said Smith. "We had talked with Taylor about extending her career abroad when she finished at Pacific as it was clear to see that she had a lot more to give in terms of playing. She will continue to train with us this spring and we look forward to watching her represent Pacific and the United State on the international stage."

Dempsey becomes the third player in Pacific field hockey history to be named to the U.S. National Development Team. She joins former Tigers Luci Lagrimas (1986) and Vianney Campos (2007). In addition, Dempsey is the 14th, current or former, player during Smith's tenure to represent their respective national team or national development team.
