2016 (Junior):
Burns scoring increased once again as she put together a 14-goal, 41-point season that ended as the third highest-scoring season by any Tiger in Pacific history. Her 14 goals were also third-most in a single season, while her 13 assists were tied for second. Burns didn''t score in Pacific''s first four games, then went on a streak that saw her score in all but two of the final 17 games. Burns had an eight-game point streak during which she scored 31 points. The junior was named to the America East West Division All-Conference team as well as the All-Academic team.
2015 (Sophomore):
Burns blossomed as a sophomore, leading the team in points with nine goals and seven assists, good for 25 total points. She had four multi-point games, with two goals against Indiana, two assists against Michigan State, and a goal and an assist against both Missouri State and New Hampshire, where she helped lead the Tigers to a victory in the America East tournament. After the season, Burns was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the America East Conference, the first DPOY in Tigers history. The South Africa native was also named to the conference''s All-Conference First Team, as well as being named a Synapse Sports All-American.
2014 (Freshman):
Burns played 18 games as a true freshman, starting 15 in her first season for the Tigers. She registered 42 shots on the year and scored her first collegiate goal at Appalachian State (Sept. 5), finishing her lone shot of the contest. Burns also set up five Pacific goals on the season to finish second on the team in assists. Her first collegiate point was an assist against Delaware (Aug. 30), and she added a two-assist game in a win at Dartmouth (Sept. 9). Burns also chipped in a helper at UC Davis (Oct. 12) and set-up the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Cal on Nov. 1.
High School:
Burns was a midfielder at Somerset College in the Western Cape province of South Africa. While playing field hockey at the school level she tallied 23 goals for Somerset en route to a championship in the International Brothers Festival in 2013 and a third place finish in all of South Africa.
Burns was also a member of the Boland U18 team which won the interprovincial tournament. She was selected for the South African U16 squad in 2011 as well as the U18 squad in 2012 and 2013.
Personal:
Savannah was born in Welkom, South Africa and is the daughter of Alan and Sharon Burns. Her grandfather, Patrick, played for the South African National Field Hockey team for 12 years while her father, Alan, played at the provincial level. In her spare time, Savannah enjoys baking and watching movies. She is a speech pathology major.
