Hayward, Calif. - The Pacific Track and Field team competed at the Chabot CSU East Bay Legacy Invitational on Saturday. Highlights included sophomore Becky Grabow (Carson City, Nev.) broke the school record in the 1500m.
Grabow recorded a time of 4:48.32, easily breaking her previous record of 4:50.54 in the 1500m at the Johnny Mathis Invitational in March. Sophomore Mia Knipper (Morada, Calif.) followed with a time of 4:49.09, also eclipsing Grabow's previous school record time. Junior Sarah Bailey (Vernon, B.C, Canada) ran a season-best 4:57.77, good for third all time in school history. Sophomore Jessica Guerra (Stockton, Calif.) set a personal record in the distance with a 5:21.98 and Sophomore Dale Dong (Stockton, Calif.) did the same with a time of 5:38.49.
In the 5000m run, sophomore Lindsay Wourms (Camas, Wash.) finished in 19:23.62 and senior Lia Genovese (Bow, N.H.) set the school record in the high jump with a school record height of 4-10.50.
Coach Josh Jones said of the performance, "The team ran great today. We wanted to get some speed work in and they did just that. Breaking personal and school records, you can't ask for more."
Jones continued, "I'm really proud of how the team is coming back from a roller coaster year. Good things are happening and that's what we want going into the last two meets."
Pacific will return to action on April 26th at the Fresno Invitational in Fresno, Calif.
