Meth Takes Home First Team All-WCC Honors

San Bruno, Calif. - Continuing to add to his trophy collection, junior Byron Meth was named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team upon the completion of the championship tournament. The all-conference award was the second of his career after earning honorable mention honors as sophomore in 2013 as a member of the Big West Conference.

Throughout the season, Meth was the Tigers' top golfer as he finished with eight top-20 finishes including four top-10 finishes and a pair of top-3 awards. The culmination of Meth's season came at the 2014 WCC Championships when the third-year golfer put it all together to win his first collegiate tournament and first conference title. Leading from the outset, Meth dismantled the field in Bremerton, Wash. as he won by seven strokes after posting an eight-under, 208, for the championships. At the tournament, Meth posted his finest round of the season to kick start his championship run as he fired a -6, 66 on day one to put himself in the drivers seat. His eight-under performance also marked a season best for the junior, beating out his previous best of an even-par finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational back on March 25. In Eugene, Meth had finished in a tie for third, his best finish of the season until his performance at the WCC Championships.

On the year, Meth played in and completed 35 rounds for the Tigers as all of his rounds were counters for Pacific on the year. In total, Meth tallied 14 rounds under-par on the season including four rounds in the 60s and 28 rounds of 75 or better golf. He led the Tigers with a 72.42 stroke average on the season, a mark which ranks as the sixth best scoring average for a Pacific golfer in program history.

Meth will be back in action at the NCAA Regionals from May 15-17 as an individual representing the Tigers. Where Meth will play in the Regionals has yet to be determined upon the writing of this release.
