Pacific Partakes in The Goodwin

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Pacific men's golf program makes the quick trip to the Bay Area for The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford at Stanford Golf Course from Thursday, March 26 to Saturday, March 28.

The Tigers will represent one of 27 teams competing in this prestigious and competitive field, looking to right the ship in this three-day Northern California tournament.

Last time out, Pacific competed in its final course outside of the Golden State, finishing 12th out of 14 teams at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. In that tournament, senior Timothy Jung played well enough to collect a team-leading six-under par for a top eight finish individually.

Redshirt junior Deitrek Gill, one of Pacific's steadiest golfers on the year, finished on a good run in Tucson, Arizona, stringing seven birdies in a row to elevate his score into the top 20 individually on the final day. Gill registered a three-under par for the three-round total at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate.

Jung and Gill will join senior Ian Fritz, senior Travis Robbie and sophomore Felix Bouchard as the quintet of Tigers competing in the lineup at Stanford this week.

Looking at the field, 22 of the 27 teams are ranked in the top 100 including 14 top 50 teams. Along with Pacific, the field features BYU, Cal, Cal Poly, Cincinnati, Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Grand Canyon, Hawaii Hilo, Howard, Little Rock, Nevada, New Mexico, Northwestern, Oregon, San Diego State, San Jose State, SMU, Stanford, TCU, UC Davis, UCLA, Utah, Washington and Washington State.

This will be Pacific's first appearance in the Goodwin Invitational since 2021 when Pacific finished in 27th place. Arizona State won the 2021 tournament by posting a score of 15-under par, with host school Stanford coming in second at eight-under par.

This year's three-day tournament will start on Thursday, March 26 with a shotgun start time at 7 a.m. each day until Saturday, March 28. Live scoring for The Goodwin can be found here.
