Meth Goes One-Under As The Tigers' Finish Day One In Hawaii

Kaua'i, Hawaii - Competing at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, the Pacific golf team had a strong showing during the opening day of play on Wednesday, Feb. 19 as the Tigers finished tied for ninth at +5. The field will attempt to chase down No. 4 ranked Cal over the next two days as the Bears posted a -10 to lead by seven strokes after 18 holes.

Working around a pair of bogeys in the opening nine holes of action, Meth evened his play out over the final nine holes at the Wailua Golf Course to post his third-straight round in the red by shooting a -1, 71. The junior grabbed a pair of birdies on the 10th and 17th holes of play. Meth had posted two birdies prior to making the turn, putting up a red-number on both the 1st and 9th holes. He sits in a tie for 10th overall on the leaderboard

Behind Meth, junior Drew Bender came into the clubhouse at +1, tallying 15 pars and one birdie throughout the round. Sophomore SeungJae Maeng put up a +2 on the day as he tallied a team-high five birdies in the round. Maeng was hot around the turn posting four birdies in five holes making his way from the 9th hole to the 13th.

Overall, the field trails Arizona's Erik Oja after day one as he tacked an eight-under, 64 over 18-holes of action. The Wildcat leads the tournament by three strokes after the opening day.

Pacific tees off at 8:00 am from the 10th tee on Thursday, Feb. 20 as the teams play the second of three 18-hole rounds from the Wailua Golf Course.
