Box Score Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Field Hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 3 Stanford on Friday afternoon, wrapping up the regular season series between the two teams. The Tigers received a second-half score from sophomore Nicole Laskosky, who also recorded a pair of goals against the Cardinal in the first meeting in Palo Alto. After the loss, the Tigers now sit at 4-9 while Stanford extended their nine game win streak to improve to 15-1 on the season.
Stanford opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a goal from Katie Keyser, her fourth of the season. Keyser was able to bring the ball into the attacking area and best Pujade to put the Cardinal up 1-0.
Stanford added a second goal to extend the scoreline to 2-0 just 43 seconds into the second half as Alex McCawley took a rebound from Shannon Herold and shot high past Pujade for her 11th score of the season.
The Tigers responded in the 48th minute, on their first shot of the contest. Freshman Cristina Castella played the ball into the circle and Laskosky took the deflection, beating Dulcie Davies for her eighth goal of the season to cut the Cardinal advantage to 2-1.
Pacific took advantage of the momentum following the score, with a flurry of shots over a two minute period. Sophomore Ali Campos fired two and Bryanna Flanagan added another, but Davies was able to corral the attempts and preserve the one-goal advantage.
Sensing a lapse in her team's defensive strategy, Stanford head coach Tara Danielson asked for time out. Immediately following the stoppage of play, McCawley got on the scoresheet again, as she took a pass from Maddie Secco on the left side and fired towards the near post to extend the score to 3-1.
Sophomore Kyleigh Morrison and Campos added shots then went wide in the 59th and 67th minute, respectively, but Davies and the Cardinal were able to preserve the 3-1 victory. Pujade made eight saves for the Tigers and Freshman Emma Leach added a team-leading third defensive save in the latter minutes of the second period.
