Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team returns to the field Tuesday against Santa Clara looking to build momentum after a weekend series win over Long Beach State.
The Tigers face Santa Clara at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Klein Family Field
Pacific (9-17 overall) won Sunday in dramatic fashion with a three-run bottom of the ninth, capped by Taylor Murphy's walk-off home run. Down to their final strike, the Tigers responded with back-to-back doubles (by Tyger Pederson and Jason Taasaas) to tie the game before Murphy launched his second home run of the season.
The Tigers feature a trio of hot hitters, as sophomore CF Tyler Sullivan is hitting .500 in his last eight games, while freshman OF Gio Brusa turned in an 8-for-11 (.727) series against Long Beach State. Senior SS Dustin Torchio hit .455 against Long Beach (5-for-11) with a pair of RBI.
Santa Clara enters Tuesday's game at 8-21 on the year, following a weekend series sweep at the hand of BYU. The Broncos are looking to snap a 13-game slide.
Pacific will send RHP Jake Jenkins to the mound for his second start of the year. Santa Clara's starter has yet to be announced.
