Tampa, Fla. - With the Big West Championships just around the corner, the Pacific golf team will hit the course for a final tune-up as the Tigers take part in the Gary Koch Invitational co-hosted by Kentucky and Auburn in Tampa, Fla. The Tigers are one of 14 teams headed to the Old Memorial Golf Club on Monday, April 8 through Tuesday, April 9. In the field of 14 the Tigers will face off against five of the nation's top-25 teams including the host Auburn Tigers who rank No. 21 heading into the week.
For Pacific, the Tigers will send senior Alex Edfort, sophomores Drew Bender, Byron Meth, and Eric Sugimoto as well as freshman SeungJae Maeng to Florida. The Tigers tee-off at 8:30 am from the 10th hole of the course as Bender will lead the Tigers off the tee alongside of players from College of Charleston and Ohio State.
Last time out, Pacific finished ninth at the Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore. Individually, Edfort took home a top-10 finish as the fourth-year star shot three-straight even-par, 72s, to end in a tie for 10th overall.
After the Gary Koch Invitational, the Tigers will take part in their final Big West Championships from April 28-30. Last season, Edfort won the individual title at the championships to earn a bid to the NCAA Regionals.
