URBANA, Ill. – The Pacific wrapped up a historic 2024-25 campaign with the finishing touches of the final round at the Urbana Regional Wednesday at Atkins Golf Club.
The Tigers (+20/872) officially reached the end of an exciting season and one for the record books, securing an eleventh place spot in the 13-team field after three days of competitive golf in the NCAA postseason.
"We couldn't be prouder of everything we accomplished this year with this group," Pacific head coach
John Cook said. "Unfortunately, we didn't advance to the finals, but we will be back next year!"
While Pacific fell short of advancing to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California, there were many milestones along the way that led the Tigers to clinching a postseason team berth for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
Sophomore
Carlos Astiazaran turned in a record-setting sophomore campaign with a program-low scoring average of 69.3 during the regular season along with a pair of individual titles, including his first career one this year. The native of Tucson, Arizona carded a two-over-par over the three days in Urbana, Illinois, which secured him a tie for 27th individually.
Junior
Timothy Jung finished his three-day total with a one-over par, earning a spot shy of the top 20 individually. Jung started Wednesday strong with a couple birdies and an eagle in the first three holes.
Junior
Deitrek Gill, junior
Travis Robbie and redshirt senior
Daniel Henely rounded out the remainder of the team scoring in the Urbana Regional. Freshman
Brasen Briones traveled with the group, but did not participate in team scoring.
The Tigers close the final chapter of the 2024-25 campaign and now look ahead to carrying over the strong play into the 2025-26 campaign.
