First Day Of Play Complete, As Meth Puts Himself Among The Top At The Fresno Lexus Classic

Fresno, Calif. - Playing their first of two tournaments on the week, the Pacific golf team ended day one of the Fresno Lexus Classic in 12th place after posting a two-over 362 on Monday, Mar. 4. Facing stiff competition on a tough course, the Tigers saw their sophomore Byron Meth lead the way over the first 36-holes of play to place himself among the top 10 of the individuals.

Teeing off play at the Belmont Country Club in Fresno, Calif., the Tigers stuggled to find the groove on the course they had during the first two tournaments of the year. However, despite the team's struggles, Meth was able to finish strong as the second-year golfer carded a -4, 68 in round two to place himself just outside the top-10 heading into the final day. Meth finds himself just one stroke back of a tie for sixth place at -4 as the sophomore finished his day at -4 after posting a -3 over his first 18-holes around the course.

Individually, Meth, as well as the rest of the field, enters the final day of play staring up at the No. 2 golfer in the country, Cal's Michael Kim, who posted a -11 on day one. Kim's big day, which included a four-shot lead on a pair of his teammates as well as the rest of the field, helped the No. 1 ranked Golden Bears seperate from the pack as Cal ended day one at -26, 23-strokes clear of the second place.
