Meth Posts Pacific's Top Finish In A Rain Soaked Day At The Stars And Stripes Invitational

West Point, N.Y. - Fighting inclement weather and a rain soaked course, the Pacific golf team held onto their fourth place standing at the Stars and Stripes Invitational over the final round of play on Monday, Oct. 7. The Tigers finished the round at +18 and the tournament at +47 as no team finished in the read at the West Point Golf Course over the two-day event. The host Black Knights took home the tournament title as Army ended the day at +13 overall, five strokes clear of second place Loyola (MD).

Individually, junior Byron Meth proved to be the Tigers' steadiest golfer over the weekend as the third-year golf finished in sixth place overall to take his first top-10 finish of the young season. Meth ended the third round of action at +1 with a 70 to post a +5 overall for the three-round event. Meth carded a trio of birdies in the final round of action as he fought against intermittent rain and through a 45-minute rain delay midway through the day's action. He and the rest of the invitational's field finished behind Army's Marcus Plunkett who completed his tournament at -2 to take the individual title as the only golfer to break par. For the tournament, the West Point Golf Course played 6,101 yards and was marked as a par-69 course.

The Tigers will be back in action in a week's time when they head to Durham, N.C. to take part in the Rod Meyers Invitational. The tournament hosted by Duke will take place from Oct. 12-13 with two rounds taking place on the first day while the final round will finish on the 13th.
