Stockton, Calif.- The match started off strong with the securing of the doubles point. The momentum that the Tigers built up in the doubles events carried on into the singles competitions. Senior Ivan Castro completed his final home match with the Tigers with a solid victory at the No. 1 position. Accompanying Castro in solidifying Pacific's victory were four of the freshmen who competed solidly.
Director of Tennis and Head Men's Tennis Coach Ryan Redondo stated, "I am really proud and happy for the Pacific Tigers today. They had to compete without one of the top starters (Alex Golding) and they came out and got our last home match victory and conference win 5-2. I am especially proud to see Senior Ivan Castro step up and help lead freshman Valentim Goncalves in doubles after being down 1-6, they came back and won 8-6 to help get the top point in doubles. Ivan also went out and in quick fashion defeated a strong conference No 1. We are determined and looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead in away matches versus Stanford University, Fresno State, and the Big West Conference Championships."
On the 18th of April, the Tigers will face Stanford on the road at 3:30pm in their second to last match prior to the Big West Championships.
