Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team heads up I-5 for a Tuesday meeting at Sacramento State. First pitch between the Tigers and Hornets at John Smith is set for 2 p.m.
Pacific (4-15) will go for the season sweep over Sacramento State (9-11), after a 13-7 win over the Hornets at Klein Family Field back on Feb. 28. The Tigers never trailed in the contest, as they pounded out 18 hits. Five Pacific players posted multiple RBI in the game, led by sophomore C/INF Riley Drongesen's three driven in.
Drongesen leads Pacific in hitting this season, with a .346 average and six doubles. He has reached base in 14 consecutive games.
Pacific's junior LHP Travis Lumby will look to provide the Tigers with a fourth-straight quality start. The last two Pacific starters, LHP Kyle Crawford and RHP Mike Hager each went eight innings, with Hager picking up the victory Sunday at Gonzaga.
In a three-game series against the Bulldogs over the weekend, Pacific's five pitchers combined for a 2.52 ERA and four walks issued in 25 innings. Crawford allowed two runs in a complete game Saturday, falling 2-0 in a pitcher's duel. Hager allowed four hits and one earned run in his eight innings Sunday as the Tigers won, 4-2.
Following Tuesday's contest, the Tigers return to Klein Family Field to host Brown in a four-game series starting with a double-header on Saturday at 1 p.m.
