Bandon, Ore. - With just one round remaining at the Bandon Dunes Championship, freshman Eric Sugimoto has put himself into contention for his first collegiate title by shooting a +1, 72 on day two. The sophomore sits at even-par through two rounds of play and trails the tournament's leader, Washington's Chris Williams, by four strokes with 18 holes to play. Williams carded a -4, 67 on day two of play to take the 36-hole lead into the clubhouse on Saturday, March 17.
As a team, the Tigers moved up two spots to eighth after shooting going six-over during the second round. Overall, the Tigers have posted a 588, +20, over the two days of play and trail a group of three by just one stroke for fifth place. To finish inside the top three, the Tigers have to make up three strokes while the leader, Washington, holds a 17 stoke advantage over the Tigers and seven over the net closest team.
