The first day of the USD/SDSU Invitational proved to be a rough day for the Tigers. As the doubles matches got underway, the Tigers in the No. 1 spot, senior Ivan Castro and junior Alex Golding, dominated against their opponents and produced a win for the Tigers with a final score of 8-3. After a confident win, the other two positions tried to out-compete their opponents, but came up short with final scores of 8-4 each.

After No. 51 San Diego secured the doubles point, the Tigers split up into their respective positions for the singles events. Senior Tomasz Krzyszkowski came up short after a brutal three set match.  Krzyszkowski had secured the first set, but lost the second and subsequently the third.  Senior Ivan Castro also had a close match against Derek Siddiqui, however Castro proved victorious with a final score of 6-7(4), 6-2, 10-8. Junior Alex Golding, competing at the No. 4 position came up short after a three set battle which even included a tiebreak in the third set. The freshmen on the team came up short in straight sets, however still competed solidly against their respective opponents.

Match play is scheduled to resume March 16th. The Tigers will be competing against Purdue at 10am and then later on in the afternoon, the Tigers will face Marquette.  Both matches are scheduled to take place at San Diego State University.
