Stockton, Calif. - With two rounds of action finished at the 2012 Stockton Convention & Visitors Bureau Pacific Invitational, the Pacific golf team sits in third place on the eve of the third and day of play. Pacific shot 12-under on day two to post a two-round total of -26. Pacific is with in striking distance of Kansas State which leads the tournament at -32. The Tigers will be pair with the Wildcats as well as the second-place BYU Cougars on the final day of play.

With the course bleeding red numbers, senior Alex Edfort took advantage of the conditions to put some daylight betwen himself and the field at the top of the leaderboard. Entering the day in a three-way tie for the tournament lead, Edfort nearly duplicated his masterful round from the opening day as the senior posted an impressive -6, 66 on Tuesday afternoon. 

Despite a two-hour fog delay at the beginning of the day, Edfort did not let his momentum wane from day one as the Somerset, N.J. native hit the course running to build an early lead. Playing the back-nine first, Edfort went five-under par through the nine as he carded six birdies to just one bogey. After the turn, Edfort held strong at the top of the leaderboard as he posted his seventh birdie of the afternoon to set the pace from which the rest of the field would give chase. For his efforts, Edfort ended his first two days of action at -13, two better than the next closest contender on the board.

With Edfort at the lead, the Tigers will look to make a play for the team title on Wednesday, October 31 as the 2012 edition of the Pacific Invitational wraps up from Brookside Country Club. The Tigers, along with Kansas State and BYU, are scheduled to tee-off the final round of action at 8:50 am. The start of the final round may change depending on fog as travel plans for the field may force the third day into a shotgun start.
