Pacific Just Misses NCAA Championship In Final Round Of NCAA West Regional

The Pacific men's golf team played a solid final round at the NCAA West Regional at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. on Saturday, May 21, but finished just off the cut for the NCAA Championship, finishing in seventh place.

As a team, the Tigers shot a three-over par 291 in Saturday's final round. Pacific missed out on a spot at the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla. by by just five strokes, as Texas was the final team to advance. They joined UCLA, USC, San Diego and Ohio State as the teams to advance.

"Although I'm very disappointed we are not moving on, I couldn't be more proud of my guys, they never quit and we had a chance all the way to the end," said head coach Brandon Goethals. "We just had too many stumbles throughout the tournament to secure a spot to the NCAA Championship."

Senior T.J. Bordeaux (Tacoma, Wash.) shot a final round 73 (+1), to finish tied for eighth place individually. Bordeaux finished at 215 (-1) for the tournament. He finished four shots behind Middle Tennessee State's Jason Millard, who advanced to the NCAA Championship as the highest placing individual not on a top five team.

Senior Alex Johnson (Tucson, Ariz.) and sophomore Alex Edfort (Somerset, N.J.) tied for 28th with three-round scores of 220. Johnson shot a final round 73 (+1), while Edfort had a team-best 71 (-1) in Saturday's round. Senior Patrick Kucich (Stockton, Calif.) tied for 42nd with a three round total of 223 after shooting a two-over par 74 on Saturday. JuniorDanny Garcia (Stockton, Calif.) rounded out the Tiger scoring in 65th, with a 233.
