Stockton, Calif. -
Without the aid of two crucial starters, the Tigers got off to a rough start, but in the end defeated Gonzaga 5-2. The Tigers instantly felt pressure after having to forfeit a match to Gonzaga in the doubles bracket. However, both matches resulted in favor of Pacific, earning the Tigers the doubles point.
The singles proved to be Pacific's best asset today having only lost one of the events after having to forfeit the 6th position. Pacific secured the match with five victories and a mere two losses.
After the match, Coach Redondo stated, "I am very proud of the team today. For certain issues we had two starters out of the line up today and the team came together to get a tough victory. Gonzaga saw the opportunity they had against us and really came after us and played some very good tennis. It was not an easy victory. Every single one of the guys learned something about themselves and about this team and that's all we can ask for at this point in the season. If we are learning and being discipline, we will continue to be dangerous."
