The No. 74 Tigers 4-5 faced the No. 71 University of Pennsylvania Quakers 8-1 but came up short with a final match score of 4-3. All of the matches were close and the match winning point was saved for the very last singles match between freshman Angus Thomson and opponent Jason Magnes. The match was a brutal three sets, however U Penn snagged the win, winning the match by one point.
Some highlights from today's match include the doubles win by Ivan Castro and Tomasz Krzyszkowski at the number three spot with a final score of 9-7 against Nikola Kocovic and Zach Gorn. From the singles matches, Fernando Ristow completed his match first earning a win with a two set score of 6-1, 7-5. The next match to be completed was that of Tomasz Krzyszkowski. He had a confident win of 6-1, 6-3 in which he powered through each shot not leaving his opponent enough time to react. Lastly, after Alex Golding's match had concluded, Artem Gramma defeats his opponent with a two set score of 6-4, 7-5 for the Tiger's third point of the match.
Two three set close-misses resulted for the number one and six positions for the Tigers. Ivan Castro battled against Hicham Laalej with great intensity, however, the Tiger could not defeat the Quaker 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Similarly, Angus Thomson faced Jason Magnes but came up just short with a final score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The Tigers now prepare to face Nevada at home on March 16th.
